We would like to inform you that the numbers in the Memo or Destination Tag on your account are permanent and cannot be changed. These numbers are automatically generated by the system to ensure the security and accuracy of every deposit transaction for your digital assets. The reason why the Memo is essential is closely tied to single-address technology. Some types of digital assets on Indodax use a single-address system, meaning the primary wallet address used is the same for all Indodax members. Since this wallet address is shared, the Memo which typically consists of a combination of several digits serves as the definitive identifier. It is this Memo that tells the system which member’s account the assets should be credited to.
When you make a transfer between wallets or across platforms, the information contained in the Memo is the key to ensuring your digital assets reach the correct destination. Without an accurate Memo, the system will not be able to identify the rightful owner of the incoming funds.
Whenever you intend to receive or transfer digital assets using a single-address system, make sure you always include the correct Memo / Destination Tag. Ignoring or incorrectly entering these digits can result in your assets not being detected by the recipient’s system and risking permanent loss.
