A Token Generation Event (TGE) is an event held by a company with the aim of creating or launching a token on a reputable exchange. In general, the concept of a TGE is similar to that of an ICO, which is a campaign to raise funds. However, the fundamental difference between a TGE and an ICO lies in its purpose. ICOs focus more on raising funds through token sales, whereas TGEs emphasize the launch or creation of the token itself.

The Main Functions of TGE in the Crypto World

Token Generation Event (TGE) is not only a token launching moment in the cryptocurrency world, but it also has several important functions that support the success of blockchain projects. Here are some of its main functions in the crypto world including :

  • Raising Funds
First, the TGE plays an important role for the company to raise funds from investors. Through this event, the company introduces its tokens as a form of security, enabling the exchange process between the company and investors. With a TGE, the company gets investment, while the investors get ownership rights and in some cases, voting rights regarding the project being developed.
  • Creating a Community of Investors
Besides funds, another goal of TGE is to build a community of interest in the company's project. The more investors who participate through token purchases, the higher the enthusiasm for the project, and the scale of the community grows. This community is very important because it can be an indicator of the project's success, and the larger the community, the greater the chances of the project's success when launched.
  • Increasing Project Awareness
TGEs also help companies raise public awareness of their projects and tokens. For this reason, companies generally choose strategic platforms or exchanges to list their tokens. It is important to note that the selection of these exchanges has a huge impact on the price, reputation, and attractiveness of the token in the eyes of investors. TGE is usually done by listing tokens on popular decentralized exchanges (DEX) or centralized exchanges (CEX), to support their marketability, liquidity, and investment attractiveness.
