We inform you that trading hours on American exchanges, such as NYSE and NASDAQ, have three main time sessions that need to be considered including
- Pre Market Hour: Start the Day with Trend Indications
Pre Market Hour is the trading session before the main market opens. This is where investors can see early indications of stock trends, such as whether the issuer of interest is going up (green) or down (red). While you can start monitoring price movements, trading volumes in this session are usually lower than in the regular session. The Pre Market in America starts from 04:00 AM to 09:30 AM New York time, which means around 16:00 PM to 21:30 PM western Indonesian time (WIB). So, if you want to monitor stock trends in the US, the afternoon to evening hours may be a good time. - Regular Market Hour: Prime Time for Trading
Regular Market Hour is the main trading time, also known as Core Market Hour. This is where the majority of stock trades take place. This is the most active session and is usually the main focus for retail investors to trade. Regular trading hours on the NYSE and NASDAQ run from 09:30 AM to 04:00 PM New York time, which is equivalent to 21:30-22:30 PM to 04:00 AM GMT. If you want to be directly involved in American stock transactions, this is the best time. - After Hour Market: Additional Opportunities After the Market Closes
After the regular market hours end, there is still the After Hour Market or Post Market Hour session. This session allows you to continue trading after the market closes, although the activity is much quieter than the regular session. After Hour Market starts at 04:00 PM to 08:00 PM New York time, or in Indonesia around 04:00 to 08:00 am WIB. Although trading is possible, trading volume and liquidity in this session is lower, which means prices can be more volatile.
