Pre-Mining is a coin mining process carried out by the creator of a crypto asset before the coin is launched to the public. Mining has been done long before the general public knows the advantages of this coin so that they are not interested and also do not have the opportunity to mine the coin.

Pre-Mining is usually a developer's backup. They create a crypto asset for a specific blockchain protocol, then send it to the address or wallet of the crypto asset's founding team, developers, and investors. After a certain period of time, the crypto asset is released to the public or other miners along with its ICO or launch date.

Pre-Mining can also be seen as a marketing activity. When investors and supporters of a new crypto asset project receive pre-mined crypto asset tokens and talk about them, it creates excitement, potentially driving up the price of the coin before launch.
