Layerzero (ZRO) is a protocol that enables decentralized cross-chain communication and value transfer between different blockchains and crypto ecosystems. It aims to create a more connected environment and interoperability among separate blockchain networks.
It uses the Oracle and Relayer models to ensure authentic and guaranteed message delivery. LayerZero v2 is a version added in 2023, which develops the Ultra Light Nodes (ULNs) feature that serves as an endpoint for communication between chains. ULNs ensure transaction security and efficiency by checking the validity of transactions and messages from other chains using block headers and transaction proofs.
The protocol also supports various blockchains that can run smart contracts, such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Fantom, and others. LayerZero also supports non-EVM chains such as Aptos. Layer Zero has code on GitHub that indicates the existence of ZRO tokens, which may be launched once again. But the team has not yet made an official print about the ZRO airdrop.
