Ransomware is a type of computer program designed by a person or group to block a user's access to their system or personal data, then the perpetrators demand a ransom to restore that access.
Usually, this ransomware works by encrypting (locking) data on a computer or network, so that users cannot access it without a key that can only be provided by the ransomware perpetrator.
Then the perpetrators generally ask for payment in digital asset, such as Bitcoin, which is difficult for authorities to trace, making them difficult to catch.
However, it should be noted that payment does not guarantee that users or victims will regain access to their personal data.
With the times and the advancement of technology, cyber crime has become a type of crime that we should be very aware of.
