Atomic swap is a technology of direct exchange of crypto assets between users on a peer-to-peer basis using smart contracts, without going through an exchange or broker. The transaction is atomic, meaning that it succeeds or fails as a whole.

Atomic swaps utilize smart contracts that are filled with exchange rules by both parties. They deposit some funds into the contract and exchange cryptographic keys privately to claim and move each other's funds to a private wallet.
