Jito (JTO) is a Solana-based liquid staking protocol that allows users to exchange Solana tokens (SOL) for Jito SOL tokens that can be used in DeFi activities, as well as own native JTO tokens for governance and participation in the Jito DAO.

The Jito protocol is designed to improve the efficiency and security of the staking system on the Solana blockchain. Users can deposit their SOL and receive Jito SOL tokens that represent ownership and staking returns.

These Jito SOL tokens can be used for various activities in the DeFi Solana ecosystem such as lending, liquidity farming, and more. On the other hand, the native JTO token is used for protocol governance through the Jito DAO and also for incentivising validators.

Thus, Jito enables increased liquidity and network governance participation for SOL holders, as well as more transparent revenue potential.
